Accessibility statement

Ondanse should be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a keyboard only, a screen reader, or a high-contrast or magnified display. This page states what we aim for, where we currently stand, and how to tell us when we fall short.

The standard we follow

We target WCAG 2.2 level AA, the level referenced by the European standard EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act. WCAG 2.2 AA also covers WCAG 2.1 AA, the version currently named in the Official Journal of the EU.

Current status

Partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA: the criteria have been reviewed one by one and checked with automated tooling and keyboard-only testing across the site, but we have not yet completed testing with real screen-reader software. The known gaps are listed below.

What is in place

  • Every control can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator, a skip-to-content link, and no action that requires dragging.
  • All text and control borders meet the required contrast in every theme, and a High contrast theme is available in the settings menu. It is applied automatically if your device asks for increased contrast.
  • Buttons, links, form fields, and dialogs carry names and roles a screen reader can announce, and result counts, errors, and page changes are announced as they happen.
  • Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • The page language follows your chosen interface language, so a screen reader pronounces the text correctly.

Known limitations

We know about the following and describe them rather than hide them:

  • The map cannot be explored marker by marker with the keyboard. The festival list shows the same festivals and is fully accessible, and the map announces how many festivals the current view holds.
  • Testing so far has been automated plus keyboard-only. Verification with NVDA and VoiceOver is planned and not yet done, so screen-reader-specific issues may remain.
  • Signing in with Facebook takes you to pages Facebook controls, and the map tiles come from an external provider. We cannot fix accessibility problems inside either.
